Singing and Dancing for Early Childhood Education

A How and Why Handbook for Parents and Teachers

For well over two decades Susan worked with children in public and private schools, through Arts Councils and her own theatre company, Open Circle Players. She found she could offer teacher training so that what she had gleaned from her vast experience would continue on in the classrooms, beyond her visits, and so the professional development company Reading Rhythm was created. So many teachers responded to her work, she wrote it all down in an easy-to-follow, thoroughly researched book.

  • Lessons on how to drum, how to sing, and how to guide movement
  • Applications for working with children

MUSIC LESSONS FOR YOU

Do you have a desire to learn to play drums?  Susan has been teaching beginner and intermediate students for over 20 years. She teaches privately or for groups.

  DJEMBE

Learn the basics of the West African djembe including hand positions, finding notes on the drum head, basic West African rhythms.  This teaching is based on Baba Olatunji's GUN go-do method. First to voice the rhythms, then play them. Great for picking up rhythms at drum circles.
