Unitarian Universalist Church of Sarasota invites you to
Summer Solstice 2012
Experience this natural cycle within yourself and in all of nature.
Wednesday June 20
7:00pm 8:30pm
The Solstice occurs this year at 7:09pm on this day.
You are invited to celebrate the Summer Solstice, when Earth bows
her polar head toward the sun. Toward this annual peak of light our days
are long and full of inspiration.
We'll celebrate with Dances of Universal Peace,
a practice that reflects thousands of years of human interaction. We'll
sing together with easy chants from different world traditions and move
together with very simple folk type circle dances. If you've never done
them or have two left feet – relax! Directions are given slowly and
clearly before each dance. We'll also meditate on our personal cycle and
how it relates to these celestial events.
Why attend? Because you and your
health deserve this short oasis in your life – a little while to breath
and sing and contemplate. And oh yes, it is fun.
The Dances will be led by Susan Slack, with 35 years of experience. Live
music is provided by Susan on drums and Tamara Majida Short on guitar
who leads Dances in St. Pete and Tampa. (SEE BELOW)(peacecircledance@yahoo.com)

The Dance
s of Universal Peace and Walking Meditations are spiritual practice in motion. Drawing on the sacred phrases, scripture, and poetry of the many spiritual traditions of the earth, the Dances blend chant, live music and evocative movement into a living experience of unity, peace and integration. This taste of our true nature - as Universal Peace - opens to the possibility of a deep spiritual revolution within the person. The Dances are practiced in 58 countries around the world.
Susan Slack has been leading the Dances for over 35 years. She was Certified by Dr. Neil Douglas-Klotz over 25 years ago. She is currently mentored by Taznim Fernandez, co-founder of the Dances of Universal Peace Network. Susan has been designated as a Senior Mentor, meaning that she is authorized to teach others the lead the dances working toward Certification if desired.
